Op initiatief van Joep Rikken is in 1999 de Pétanque Club Montferland opgericht. U kunt het balspel pétanque beoefenen. In de volksmond wordt het spel jeu de boules genoemd. Bij de Pétanque Club Montferland wordt het balspel zowel recreatief als in wedstrijdverband beoefend.
